PermitPrice publishes building permit fee data derived from official government fee schedules. Every fee on this site is a reference figure, not an official quotation.
Estimates only
Permit fees on PermitPrice are calculated from the published fee formula of the cited jurisdiction. Estimates apply general assumptions about scope, valuation method, and surcharge composition. Your actual permit fee depends on the specific project scope reviewed by your building department, the valuation method they apply, and any change orders, revisions, or additional reviews triggered during plan review.
Not an official source
PermitPrice is not affiliated with any city, county, or state government. We do not issue permits, accept applications, or set fees. The official fee schedule for your jurisdiction, on file with your local building department on the day you apply, is the authoritative figure.
Fee schedules change
Most jurisdictions adjust fees annually. State surcharges, technology fees, and recordation fees are also adjusted independently. Each PermitPrice page lists the source document and the date the data was last verified. If the gap is large, treat the figure as a planning baseline only.
Scope of coverage
PermitPrice covers residential building permit fees only - decks, sheds, pools, additions, alterations, and similar one- or two-family construction. We do not currently publish commercial, industrial, or multifamily fee data. We do not publish trade-only fee data for commercial systems.
Verify before filing
Before filing a permit application, before signing a construction contract, and before finalizing a project budget, verify the current fee directly with your local building department. PermitPrice cannot tell you what your specific application will cost. Only the jurisdiction reviewing your plans can.
