Author standards
PermitPrice is written by one person. Every page carries the same byline: Written by: Munib Ur Rehman. Data verified against official fee schedule documents. We do not invent reviewers, fictional editors, or paid expert quotes. If a credentialed third party ever contributes, the page will say so explicitly with their real role and verifiable credentials.
Sourcing rules
- Every fee figure is sourced from a .gov fee schedule PDF, ordinance section, or official permit portal page. Aggregator sites and contractor blogs are not acceptable primary sources.
- Sources are linked on the page where the figure appears, with the effective date.
- If a source cannot be located, the page is not built. We log the gap and move on rather than guessing.
Calculation rules
All calculator math is reproducible from the linked source document. Worked examples are labeled with their inputs and assumptions. Estimates are labeled as estimates, in tables, in worked examples, in summary language, and in fact-check notes. We do not present an estimate as if it were a quoted figure.
Disclosure rules
- Where a fee schedule is older than 12 months, the page says so.
- Where scope categorization or valuation method is ambiguous, the page discloses the ambiguity in plain language.
- Where a fee component is bundled and we cannot break it out, we say so.
- We do not bury caveats in footnotes. Limits live on the page next to the figure.
Trust signals we will not fake
- No "as featured in" claims unless we can link the feature.
- No invented user counts, lookup counts, or testimonials.
- No fake review schema.
- No third-party expert byline unless the expert wrote the content.
Independence
PermitPrice does not accept payment from jurisdictions, contractor lead-generation networks, or permit-expediter firms in exchange for coverage, ranking, or favorable language. The site has no advertising and no affiliate links at this time. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed clearly.
